Renate discovers a hidden gem in Marrakech

Renate discovers a hidden gem in Marrakech

I absolutely love Morocco so when my niece Tessa said she had never been it was the perfect excuse to dig out our favourite summer pieces and have a weekend away. We booked ourselves into the fantastic Riad 72, which I can honestly say was the most beautiful place I’ve stayed in Marrakech.

The riad was absolutely wonderful and I was so pleased to have found this hidden gem right in the heart of the city. The decor was so exquisite, the service was five star and it was a perfect, tranquil sanctuary to return to after the hustle and bustle of Marrakech’s souks.

I packed lots of loose, floaty dresses (it was 40 degrees heat after all!), my favourite snake-skin sandals and plenty of vibrant clutch bags from Vanilla. I even brought myself a snazzy new straw hat at the market.

It was the best way to stay cool in the sun, especially when we visited the ultra-stylish Jardin Majorelle. The memorial garden used to be owned by Yves Saint Laurent and is absolutely beautiful to walk around. I was so inspired by the vibrant cobalt-blues with the splashes of yellow dotted around the art deco villa.

I decided not to make this into a buying trip this time, as Tessa and I wanted to just relax and chill out. But now I know how fantastic Riad 72 is, I’m already dreaming about going on a work trip to bring some of that colourful Moroccan style back with me to Vanilla.
